Carrot oil: An Overview of Its Application And Effects

Carrot oil is becoming increasingly popular for beauty care. In this article, you can read an overview of its application and effects.

Carrot oil: good for skin and hair

Carrots are rich in nutrients that nourish the skin and hair
Carrots are full of good nutrients. But the carrot oil obtained from its roots is also very valuable for health and care. That is why it is becoming increasingly popular with all those who want to take care of their skin and hair intensively. The carrot oil is obtained from the shredded roots of the plant by steam distillation. This gentle process guarantees that the valuable ingredients in the oil are retained.

Carrot oil is characterized by a particularly high content of vitamin A and provitamin A. Vitamin A plays an important role in the structure, functionality, and renewal of our skin. It can also protect the skin cells from DNA damage, which is caused, among other things, by exposure to the sun and lead to premature skin aging. Provitamin A is also known as beta-carotene, the plant pigment that gives peppers, tomatoes, and the like their bright color, and is the precursor to vitamin A. Provitamin A also ensures beautiful skin and hair.

What are the benefits of carrot oil?

Conventional cosmetics hide some substances that we would rather not have on our skin. This includes synthetic emollients, peeling substances, and film formers that only appear to smooth and care for the skin. In addition, most conventional products contain microplastics, which enter natural waters through wastewater and accumulate there.

On the other hand, you can use carrot oil without hesitation. It is good for your body and does not harm the environment. In addition, carrot oil is a great example of how the parts of the plant can be used that we would normally throw away: the carrot roots.

Pure carrot oil is not available in stores. Instead, it is mixed with other natural vegetable oils such as jojoba, almond, soy, or sesame oil. When buying, pay attention to either natural cosmetics certification, e.g. the Natrue or Ecocert seal, or very carefully to the list of ingredients to avoid adding synthetic substances.

Use and effects of carrot oil

Carrot oil is an excellent cosmetic product that you can use in many ways, both for skin and hair care. You can buy it in drug stores, some health food stores, or health food stores. It is available online, for example on Amazon. It is not suitable for internal use.

Carrot Oil: Effect and use as a skincare product

Soft skin: Carrot oil is suitable for the care of dry and chapped skin because it makes the skin soft and supple and gives it a lot of moisture.
Anti-aging: You can also use carrot oil to prevent skin aging. The contained vitamin A has cell-protecting properties and tightens the skin.
Complexion: You can also use carrot oil as a natural self-tanner. The carotene it contains gives your skin a darker tone. However, you should only use it sparingly and distribute it very evenly on the skin to avoid stains.
Use on the skin: Cleanse your face as usual and moisten it with a facial toner (or normal water). Put a few drops of the oil in your palms, warm it up briefly, and massage it into damp skin. It is suitable for daily care in the mornings and evenings.

Carrot Oil: Effect and application as a hair care product

Shine and suppleness: Carrot oil nourishes dry, brittle, and split hair and gives it shine over time.
Use on the hair: You can pamper your hair intensively with a carrot oil treatment. To do this, carefully heat a few tablespoons of carrot oil (e.g. in a water bath) and distribute it in your hair, especially in the lengths and ends. Leave the treatment on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off. It is also faster if you rub a few drops of the oil in your hands and knead them into the ends of your hair.

But be careful:

Carrot oil has a light coloring effect. You should make sure to cover your clothes well before using carrot oil. Otherwise, it can quickly lead to stains that are difficult or impossible to wash out.
Even if your scalp is very dry or prone to dandruff, you shouldn't use carrot oil. Because dry areas of the skin absorb the carotene in the oil more easily and thereby discolor. But do not worry: the hair itself will not be colored.
