When Britney Spears' first album, Baby One More Time, came out, I was in my late twenties. Later, my children would listen to her songs and dance to them too. She had fun, dance-inspiring pop songs. She was also a good dancer and entertainer.
Over time, I had read about her alcohol and drug problems and followed her father's guardianship. I always thought there was something else behind this. In fact, when I read her own book, The Woman in Me, I realized that my suspicions were true. Unfortunately, while people were having fun with her music, she lived a prison life for years, exploited by her family and ex-husband.
I had recently noticed her posts on her Instagram account that seemed strange to me. However, after reading about what she had experienced, I wondered how many of us could have maintained our sanity after being held in prison for years, forced to work, and our money stolen. I think it's a good thing she wrote this book. Thanks to this, the puzzle pieces fell into place. She poured her heart out by writing, which is a very good therapy, and she also had the opportunity to tell her fans about her experiences.
What neither her mother, nor her father, nor her brother and sister did to her is unacceptable. They even put her in a mental hospital to loot her money and she barely got over the effects of the drugs she had to take. Who knows, maybe she still suffering of that. Her ex-husband didn't show her children to her in order to get more money from her and threatened to never show them. She endured this torture that lasted 13 years just to be able to see her children.
She was forced to work in jobs she didn't want to under the pressure of a manager who was collaborating with her father and was forced to go on tours.
This creative young woman who wrote lyrics and put on great shows with her dances hated her job so much at that time that she writes in her book that she will never return to the music world. I think she is still affected by what she experienced because she was only able to get rid of her father's guardianship a few years ago. They even prevented her from hiring her own lawyer for years.
As a mother whose children are interested in music, from time to time, people around me suggested that I enter them in castings or competitions. I never thought of such a thing when they were young and I still don't. Instead, we made sure they received education that would develop their talents. As they grow up, they will do something themselves if they want. If the opposite is happening, I believe that those parents are trying to make money off the child.
I am very sorry for what happened to Britney. I believe that she has a very naive nature despite starting these jobs at a young age. If she hadn't, she would have known how to protect and defend herself. I hope she will be happy in her future life.
Woman in Me Book Subject
The book is a biography that will be read with caution. Britney did not hesitate to tell her mistakes sincerely. She told about the pressure and bad treatment she was subjected to by her family for years, her love for her children, her loves and what she experienced from the moment she started her career. Even if you are not interested in her music or her as an artist, it is worth reading because it reflects the art world she has experienced.
