Do You Have Pests? Here’s How You Find Out

Are you concerned that you might have a pest infestation? Maybe you are worried that your new home has a big problem but you’re not quite sure how to pinpoint what type of pests you have. Either way, if you read this guide then you should be able to find out everything you need to know.

What is an Infestation?

A pest infestation tends to happen when a pest infiltrates a location. Pests often carry dangerous diseases and this can put your health at risk. If you are facing a pest infestation in the workplace or if you are dealing with them within your home then you need to eradicate them as soon as possible. If you don’t then you run the risk of being ill, and this is the last thing you need.

Do You Have An Infestation?

Each type of pest has a different sign that they are inhabiting your home. Whether it is cockroaches, birds, rodents or anything else similar, each one has a telltale sign that you need to look out for. Being able to identify the signs of an infestation will help you to prioritise your well-being, as well as that of your employees if the pests are in the workplace. If you want some help when it comes to finding out what pests you have then take a look below.

Droppings

Droppings are an obvious sign that you may have a pest who is living or roaming in your area. It can be very difficult to identify the droppings of certain pests over others too. If you are facing an insect infestation for example then you may find that it takes you longer to identify the droppings, as they are all very similar. Rodents are easier, as the size of their droppings often indicates the size of the rodent. If you have rodents, it is so important that you hire an exterminator as they can eliminate the issue for you.

Footprints

Other signs that you have an infestation include damage to areas or items that are reachable to the pest. Some of the damages you can look out for include chewed furniture, loose items, frayed wiring and sawdust.  This is especially the case with termites, as they often chew holes through wooden furniture. Although the holes might not be immediately noticeable, you may see piles of sawdust lying around where the termites have been.

Nests

Finding evidence of a nest is also an indicator that you are dealing with an infestation. Depending on the type of nest the pest has, you may notice various signs. Wasps and even ants tend to be very easy to find as they can be out in the open and they are also very distinguishable. You may also have bees, which tend to congregate at certain times of the year. If you have rodents however then this may be harder for you to identify, as they tend to be in the ceiling voices or the attic. It’s possible that they are under the floorboards as well so keep this in mind.
