SAG Awards 2023 Red Carpet Looks

The US acting guild SAG presented its in-house prizes to the best series and film ensembles for the 29th time this weekend. The SAG Awards are always considered a yardstick for next month's Oscars.

Admittedly, the SAG Awards (abbreviation for Screen Actors Guild) have lost some of their relevance. After all, the US cable channels TNT and TBS have dropped out of the TV broadcast. But the streaming service Netflix has now switched a live stream of the award ceremony show via YouTube, which took place for the 29th time this year. Both series and film actors were honored, sometimes in solo categories or as a whole ensemble. It is usually worth taking a look at the films (see page two), because the winners there are also considered the top favorites for the Oscars on March 13th.

The "Everything Everywhere All at Once" trio of Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis had reason to celebrate. All three won a personal award and also won the prize as a team. In the series, The White Lotus won as best drama, and Abbott Elementary as best comedy ensemble. Jennifer Coolidge also won an award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, while the men's honors went to Ozark star Jason Bateman. Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) and Jean Smart (Hacks) dominated the comedy field.
