An Investor’s Guide To Vintage Watches

Watches used to be the only means to tell time and thus have been an essential tool for everyone. However, with the advent of mobile phones, some people may have no longer found the need to keep watches on their wrists. So why still wear one?

These days, watches don’t only serve to tell time and can even be more than just an item to adorn a part of a wrist. As a personal item, a watch given as a gift can remind the wearer of the giver. Watches, in fact, say a lot more about a person than many people may think, they portray a lifestyle and a way of life.
There has never been a better time to invest in high quality watches from the world’s leading manufacturers. Many of these watches are expensive, but expensive for a reason. Providing they are serviced regularly at accredited watch firms, they will stand the test of time and ultimately prove to be a great investment. Vintage Rolex watches that will last are one such investment that have proven time and time again to hold their value as the years roll on.

Whether you want to start a collection because you like watches or want something to pass onto your children, the market for high quality watches will continue. Without further ado, let’s have a look at some of the watches that many people say will be a sound investment over time.

There are many different types of Rolex watches but one thing they all share in common is their ability to hold and even increase their value. The prices are of course higher when associated with famous actors and currently the most expensive Rolex watch auctioned to date was the 1968 Paul Newman Cosmograph Daytona which was sold at auction in 2016 for a staggering (US) $17,752, 500.

2.  Patek Phillipe - This super luxury Swiss watch maker was established in 1839 and has since become a symbol of opulence and status and worn by artists, entrepreneurs, intellectuals, politicians and Royalty. It’s fair to say that if you can afford a Patek Phillipe watch you will certainly get a good return on your investment in the future. At an auction in Geneva in 2014, a Patek Phillipe Henry Graves Supercomplication sold for US 23.98 million dollars, making it the most expensive watch ever sold.
