Interesting Details From Golden Globes 2024 & Red Carpet Favorites

The 81st edition of the Golden Globes took place on January 7, 2024, marking a significant moment in the history of this prestigious award ceremony. Renowned for its role as a precursor to the Oscars, the Golden Globes serve as a reliable indicator of who might clinch the coveted trophy in the film industry's most celebrated event.

Interesting Details About Golden Globes 2024

This year's Golden Globes are distinguished as a milestone in the award's legacy, marked by substantial changes from previous years. The ownership of both the brand and the event itself shifted hands, with Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries acquiring them from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the former sole organizer of the Globes.

The Foreign Press Association faced a challenging year in 2021, marred by serious allegations, particularly concerning a lack of diversity. The ensuing backlash prompted several stars to boycott the HFPA, leading to its dissolution. Subsequently, Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries assumed responsibility for the Golden Globes.

Despite the controversies, the Golden Globes remain a beloved awards ceremony for stars and starlets in the film industry. Known for its indulgent treatment of attendees, the event has traditionally been a platform for extravagant celebrations.

An intriguing shift this year is the relocation of the Golden Globes after-show parties. While they typically unfolded within the hotel complex, now an official after-party around the pool at the Beverly Hilton is planned. Some other parties, such as Netflix's celebration at Wolfgang Puck's "Spago" and the Universal Group's event at the restaurant "Tommy's Beverly Hills," have also found new venues post-corona pandemic.

In terms of awards, two new categories have been introduced: the “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award” and “Best Performance by a Stand-Up Comic.” Furthermore, each of the 25 categories now features six nominees instead of the previous five.

Taking the stage as the evening's host is comedian Jo Koy, who, at 52, faced both praise and criticism for his performance. The comedian earned around $500,000 for the gig but drew flak for his light-hearted jokes, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).

Expensive Gift Bags For The Winners !!!

Notably, the gift bags for this year's Golden Globes winners and presenters are expected to be the most valuable in Hollywood's awards show history, surpassing even the Oscars. Valued at an impressive $500,000, the bags include around 35 luxury products and experiences, ranging from stays in elite hotels like the Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and the London 5-star Hotel One Aldwych to a five-day cruise on a luxury yacht in Indonesia.

Among the extravagant contents are a bottle of Komos tequila, Colombian earrings from Coomi x Muzo, custom-made sneakers from Opie Way, and a tattoo from the renowned "Atelier Eva" in Brooklyn. Celebrities have the privilege of selecting their preferred items or trips, with many opting to share these luxurious gifts with friends, assistants, managers, or agents as tokens of appreciation.

Adding a touch of culinary sophistication to the Golden Globes, celebrated chef Nobu Matsuhisa, 74, curated the menu for the first time. The menu featured five of his signature dishes, including salmon tartare with caviar in wasabi soy, sashimi salad with Matsuhisa dressing, yellowtail jalapeno, black cod miso, and a trio of traditional nigiri.
