All You Need To Know About Permanent Makeup

The biggest trend of last years in terms of beauty was permanent make-up. More and more women do without eyebrow pencils, eyeliner and even mascara because they have already provided plenty of long-lasting treatments such as micro-, nano blading and eyelash extensions. In future, we will not be able to avoid this hype and therefore we got to the bottom of it and found everything for you that you should know about the topic before you take the step yourself ...

What is permanent makeup?

Basically, permanent make-up means any treatment that is carried out by the beautician or our trusted beauty doc and that conjures up full brows, a perfectly drawn eyeliner, long eyelashes or red lips - all without using any make-up. But "permanent" does not mean "forever", because these beauty treatments also have their expiry date, which varies depending on skin type, sun exposure or care.

The shelf life of permanent makeup

Just like with tattoos, most procedures are carried out with professional tools and needles. However, the colour pigments used are not as strong as those from tattoo ink. This is because in this case the beautician works on more sensitive areas such as eyes or lips and has to protect them from irritation with milder products. The durability is therefore impaired and this means regular refreshing of the permanent make-up. Depending on the brand, colour intensity, UV resistance and care, the resistance of microblading, lip make-up, etc. varies: eyebrows usually disappear after 2-3 years and have to be traced approximately every 12 months, while lip contours and eyeliner lines last a little longer (up to 5 years).

Remove permanent makeup

A perfectly made-up face without foundation, lipstick, mascara & Co - who doesn't want that? But before you undergo special treatments such as microblading or lip pigmentation, you should be 100 per cent sure that it is really the right way for you. Because of course, the treatments will not last a lifetime but will be on your face for at least a few years. In addition, you should carefully select the studio where you have the permanent make-up done, compare prices and do not think twice. Many beauty salons may seem overpriced at first glance, but too low a price can mean poor service or poor product quality.
If it is too late for this, for example, if the eyebrows fail, there is only painful laser treatment, which can cost several 100 dollars per session. Until the microblading has completely disappeared, 6 to 8 sessions may be necessary.

Permanent eyebrows

One thing is clear, your makeup will not be complete until the brows have the perfect shape, fullness and colour. It's not that easy! This is precisely why for a number of years now more and more women have been using permanent make-up methods and thus say "bye, bye" to their bland and gapy eyebrows. We often perceive our brows as too short or the colour too bright: innovative treatments such as micro or nano blading, however, perfect the brows in a (semi) permanent way, the gaps are then completely covered and places were plucked too much and where there are no more hairs growing back, they get their fullness back. Even with complete hairlessness, the eyebrow beautification is a great help, because it brings back the previous appearance completely.

Eyelash extensions

A perfect look is every woman's dream and eyelash extensions make it possible. The 3D eyelash trend has spread particularly since last year: Stars like Kylie Jenner and Ariana Grande present their long lashes on Instagram and of course we want to imitate them! These treatments are not really permanent make-up, but they nevertheless promise a long-lasting result. For extensions, around 60 to 150 individual eyelashes are attached with a special adhesive and last about 4 weeks before they have to be refilled. It is important to ensure proper care after treatment: For 24 hours, no water or other liquid should touch your eyelashes, as the glue could still come off and you should also use oil-containing make-up removers and facial cleansers, as well as mascara and eyelash curler & Co. waive.

Permanent lip makeup

Full, sensual lips like those of a Victoria's Secret Angel - who doesn't want that? Fortunately, there is a second alternative to the classic fillers: lip beautification. A treatment in which narrow, pale or contour-free lips are transformed into the perfect kissing mouth. The proportions between the upper and lower lip are created - as far as it is possible without an operation - and you can look forward to a long lipstick-free time afterwards.
You can choose the right treatment for your type and wishes between lip modelling, contouring and colour refreshment. The performing beautician will help you with a first "trial appointment" and advise you on the right treatment:

Lip modelling: is the most discreet permanent make-up for your kissing mouth. The edge is drawn with your own colour and your lips are contoured in a natural way.
Lip contouring: This treatment emphasizes your lips in colour and shape. It is perfect for mouths of normal size - not for narrower ones. For this, you should rather resort to lip modelling. The edge then becomes a shade darker than the rest and can, therefore, be worn with or without lipstick.
Lip colour refreshment: This treatment is the perfect alternative to lipstick. The entire surface of your mouth is pigmented with a colour of your choice. This can be a soft pink, for example, but bright red tones and Bordeaux are also very popular. Many even choose to combine this option with that of contouring.

Permanent eye makeup

The time in the morning to draw the perfect eyeliner is getting shorter for you? Then the only solution is that of permanent make-up! Not only the intensity, shape and size of the line can be determined, but also the colour for the braver of you. The following three methods are particularly recommended for contact lens wearers and eyeliner fans at the same time because products such as eyeliner, eyeshadow and kohl can penetrate the eye, irritate the mucous membranes and even damage the lenses.
Eyelash wreath accentuation: If you want to emphasize your eyelashes naturally without having to resort to 3D lashes or eyelash extensions, this method should definitely give you a chance. This treatment is ideal especially for lighter types because it creates the illusion of a darker and fuller wreath: the lash line is emphasized by dark, small dots.
Eyeliner: Of course, permanent eyeliner is not a full and eye-catching make-up à la Cleopatra, but a subtle line that flatters our eye shape and at the same time makes our eyelashes look thicker. The permanent line is ideal for deep-set eyes because it can cleverly correct the angle and lift it up all at once.
Coloured eyeliner: Anyone who decides on this treatment must first discuss with the cosmetician in charge which shade best suits their eye colour. Because while the black eyeliner emphasizes the eye, its shape and the eyelashes, the coloured person focuses on emphasizing the iris and must, therefore, be perfectly coordinated with it.
